Ok, so it's a week before muzzleloading season in New Hamster. I took my front-loader to the range, and put three shots where I wanted them. I love that rifle. Went to check the other ranges for brass-place was quiet because of marginal weather. I ended up striking the mother lode of brass. All kinds. Two shopping bags later, I've got the usual pistol stuff, and piles of once fired rifle stuff, some in boxes ! It took me an hour and a half to pick the stuff.
Problem ? I'm typing this while lying on the floor. My back didn't like that vigorous workout ! My wife says I had it coming ! I figured you guys would see the humor. Hint: Buy stock in an ibuprofen manufacturer...

Poo, I can relate to that. I had back surgery last Oct. to my lower back. I was shooting in a pistol competition when every thing from my waste down when dead and I almost fell to the ground. The range officer about had a hart attack, but I managed to keep the muzzle pointed down range until I recovered. I am at present recovering from neck surgery C4,5,6,7 were fused. Getting old sucks.

Hey, this is only temporary, although I'm still walking kind of funny.
Bob, I sympathize with your illness, but my cat has been diagnosed with curiosity !

Pooh, Yes I to can relate to that but anytime we head to the range we try to get the kids to go along. All Pappy (that be me) has to do is yell "Clean Up Aisle 5" and they go to town and have fun doing so. If you guys remember my post from the other year. Of late though we don't have the kids with and have to suffer through it.

I bought one of these brass-picker-upper-thingies and they really work. With my back I had to find an answer or stop reloading.

Ya, I should have sent a link but you can buy these contraptions at most outdoor and shooting sites so I figured ya'all knew about them. They are at most gun-shows too. They work great but the trick is "don't push down" as you run over the brass. Just a light touch and they will pict up the brass. The second tip is when you have the basket about 1/4 full, empty it or you will begin to redistribute the brass. They now make small versions for 22 Rim-fires and a large version for Shot-shells. I haven't tried either of those but can't see why they wouldn't work as well as the original, mid-sized one. They are actually a tool made for picking up nuts in orchards and I was told they are cheaper on agriculture sites but haven't checked that out. At any rate, they save bending over to pick up brass (or nuts). Gary, I also found that letting the grandkids use one of these things produces more brass. Seems they make a game out of it and cover a much larger area.

Larry, your idea about agricultural sites is spot on. I went to google and typed in "nut", and put "pick" , and google filled in "nut picker upper", and there were a whole bunch of them. I didn't examine things too closely, but Walmart had one for $22.
