Well Saturday was the last day of Archery Season in Pennsylvania. I went to my stand not really expecting to see much, things have not been the same since the neighbor put cattle in the back pasture, but a little before 8:00 am I see a deer coming through the middle of the field. The silly thing came straight down the hill into the food plot right in front of my stand. To be legal in my area a buck must have 3 points on 1 antler NOT counting the brow tine, well this guy had 4 points on 1 antler and the other antler was broken off. For a split second I started to think he wasn't much of a trophy but got over that pretty quick. I thought this guy might be a gift from above and who was I to not accept it. Once he turned to quarter away I took the shot and watched him drop at about 50 yards.
I guess I have some work to start on tonight.
My son had dropped me off there in the morning and took my truck to his spot so after cleaning him out & tagging him I climbed back into the stand to see if a doe might show up. no doe did show but another 1/2 rack 4 pointer did show. Had a great day.

Awesome JB. You definitely had a very very good day afield. I hope to get my middle grandson back out for more hunting. Besides I have to get him ready for rifle season as he is going to be using a 29ga. with slugs for deer.

I didn't realize how big of a gift this 1/2 rack buck was. This morning at our start up meeting we were told to expect working 7 days a week until Christmas. I do have some more time scheduled off but who knows if I'll be aloud to take it. Oh well, I'm sure glad I didn't pass on him.
