On Monday my son and I drover to Phoenix, Arizona to the Ben Avery Shooting Facility and took part in the NRA / Henry Repeating Arms 1000 Man Shoot. This was a fund raiser and got us into the record book by firing 1000 22LR lever-action rifles at one time. We were numbers 224 and 225 on the firing line. Never thought I'd travel a 750 mile (round trip) to shoot one 22LR but this was worth it.

Anytime funds are raised for a good and noble cause it is more than worth it.

Congrats Snapshot! What a wonderful reason to travel 750 miles. I go to the Phoenix area twice a year to see my daughter.....worthwhile trip.....but as fun? Well not in the shooting sense, doting on my Grandkids......well that's different.

Sounds like a fun time for a worthy endeavor. Was it a simultaneous shot or in groups?

Yes; it was 1000 of us lined up across the firing line of three ranges with about 350 targets. We each had a Henry Golden Boy Silver commemorative rifle (22LR). The rifle was custom engraved to commemorate the event. For a $20 fee you got a hat and t'shirt and for $650 you got the rifle too. My son elected to go for the hat and shirt (he knows he will get the rifle "some day"). YA . . . I went for the rifle (like I need another one). The range Master walked us through a few dry-fires to get the timing down. Then we racked in a round and with the Range Master's instructions as we: shouldered the rifle, aimed and fired. It was impressive. To make sure we met the Guinness Book of Records we repeated with a second shot. It sounded great but the echo of the hill was really cool. So actually, I drove all that way to shoot TWO rounds of 22LR. There are several videos on U-tube if you want to look at it.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

It's cool to be part of something big like that. For me, a couple of things stand out-standing colors at Perry, and same deal at the Marine Corps Marathon.

Larry, The NRA is recognizing it as a record BUT Guinness Book is not. Here is a link from NRA-ILA on the subject. This to me is more liberal hate on firearms than anything else. If one looks at the Guinness Book you can see some really STUPID stuff that they recognize as world records but refuse to accept this feat. www.nraila.org/articles/20161118/guinness-refuses-to-validate-nra-world-record

We were told that the Guinness people informed NRA & Henry what had to be done to meet their requirements and then after the fact refused to honor it.
