Well; we are in our new house and are officially Arizona residents! Bob, do what you can with California but I don’t hold much hope for it, good luck. The move that was planned to take 3 weeks has turned out to be just under 5! Aside from my carry gun, I have not touched a gun in all that time. The good news is we are in the house, the bad news is we are still living out of boxes . . . lots of boxes. The area for the new workshop is much bigger but it’s going to take a long while to build it out. I’ll check in regularly again now that the computer is unpacked (even though it’s still on the dining room table for now). I’ve missed chatting with you guys and it’s good to be back. ~ Larry

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Thanks guys. As for shop design, I brought all my cabinetry from the old shop and have each cabinet in layout form in my computer so I can move the pieces around and choose the final layout I want. I'm in process of measuring room and getting that into the computer. I had the contractor run additional circuits when he built the house so that part is okay. Years ago I managed a demo of a biomedical research firm and bought steel lab cabinets with a mix of closed shelving and drawers. All with ball bearing rollers and the works. There are also wall cabinets with sliding glass doors and fully adjustable shelving to go above the bench. Because its all steel I bought it off the jobber for his scrap steel price. Back then it was 3 1/2 cents per pound. If I had purchased the cabinetry retail back them it would have hit north of $8,000; as it turned out he estimated the weight (I'm sure he was low) and charged me $475 and let me use his big truck to haul it. I just have to get everything laid out, leveled and fastened together. Then build the bench tops and set up shop. I'm looking forward to this project but have to get the wife's projects done before I can start. It's the first time we ever built a custom home so even though we're in it there are a ton of thins to do . . . ceiling fans, assemble her office furniture, install finish light fixtures, landscaping, assemble patio furniture and barbecue, install home automation controls . . . damn, I better quit . . . this is getting depressing. Thanks again for your kind wishes, I'll keep you posted. PS ~ The local range is 9 miles away (already a member) and there is an indoor range in town (about 4 miles away).

I have a daughter who lives in Casa Grande. You sir, were wise to move to a cooler part of the state. Just watch out for the speed traps on the way to Phoenix. Arizona gets a piece of my nest egg, every year or so......even as I try to avoid the problem. The guns attitude in Arizona is near perfect.....breath of fresh air as you move east from Kalifornia. Enjoy! So how does the dog like your new surroundings....made any friends yet? Ps: Time to change the words under your avatar......Location?

GWS ~ We checked into the weather and temperatures before we choose the area. My brother-in-law lives in Mesa and that’s just too hot for us. Our friends in Flagstaff get more snow than we like so we think we have the area best for us. You’re sure right about the gun friendly part and getting out of Kalifornia. The dog seems content and so far just watches the antelope, guess he thinks they are just tall dogs. Everyone we’ve met so far seems to have that friendly western feel, like we enjoyed when we lived in Wyoming, many years ago. Your also right about Arizona and traffic cops. My son-in-law has donated to their cause and I see them keeping busy on most of the roads around here. BTW . . . thanks for the heads-up on my profile update. ~ SnapShot (Larry)
