280 Remington what's a good bullet weight to load for deer and bear. I was thinking about going with a 154 gr SST in it.

I don't load for the .280, however my 7X57 load is a 140 gr. Sierra Pro Hunter or Nosler Partition @ 2950 fps chronographed at 12'. This is a Ruger ONLY load which should be close to your .280 performance. About 50 shots with 50 deer, quite effective.

Well I'm late getting to this party. I don't load for the 280 Rem. but load for the 7mm-08 Rem. In this I mainly use the Nosler Ballistic Tip in the 140 grain. Now this load is for deer as I haven't hunted bear in quite some time. If I was going for bear I would jump up to Speer's 145 grain Hot-Cor or to the 150 grain Sierra or Nosler. For your 280 the 150 to 160 should work good in this cartridge. With the Speer 145 being the minimum. In my opinion.
