What are your thoughts about the NRA's apparent stance on the banning bump stocks? I have somewhat mixed feelings as I don't see a "need" for them as they turn a serious tool into a toy, however I don't want to give an inch either!

To me bump stocks make good civilian rifles unsafe. The same as "lift" kits make road cars and trucks unsafe. I think giving there is prudent. If we don't give anywhere....be totally unreasonable....we may lose everything. Choose our battles, I say.
That said the industry ought to be in this....they need to take some responsibility. If I have a good firearms design and some bozo comes forward and makes it stupidly unsafe, I'd sue the SOB's and put a stop to it before they destroy my product and my market.
If the NRA is defending these products, they are wrong. These aren't guns, they are products designed to make our guns disappear....probably designed by liberals for that purpose.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Bump stocks are right there with those dual action triggers-squeeze for one shot, release for the second. Think about that ! Greg, you're right-there's a place to stand and fight, but many times a fluid response is better. I like your idea of the proactive action by manufacturers.

Gentlemen I see and understand each point of view. If they put out a total ban on these items and ban the manufacturing of such devices someone somewhere will come up with a way to make something else to do the same. If there is a will there will always be a way. Example in California you now must have a fixed 10 round magazine on the rifle. It can not be detachable. So when empty you have to load through the ejection port. Well someone came up with a device that holds 10 rounds that in a matter of seconds you can reload very quickly 10 rounds. I posted earlier on this and I do believe "SnapShot"did acquire a couple and tried and liked them. So again someone will try to come up with something else.

They already have the no machine gun without a license law passed many years ago, which says, "You can't change the receiver of a semi-auto firearm to turn it into a machine gun". It took a lot of years for someone to get past the wording and make the stock do the job. All they have to do is reword the existing law to include the words "any part of the firearm, and anything mounted to or touching the fire arm". That will stop the idiots for another "lot of years."
A lot of people pooh-pooh conspiracy theories as the mark of an overtime schizo. But real conspiracies have been with us since Cain killed Abel, and they are inspired, created, and lead by the same entity. They will never stop until the enemy of us all is finally defeated! Meanwhile......we have to stay vigilant, and resist giving in and giving him everything he desires to enslave us. He wants our guns.....we have no defense without them.........the Jews found that out in Nazi Germany.
That kid in Florida did not act alone......whether or not anyone else were co-conspirators, Satan was!

GWS, with regard to your conspiracy thoughts I have to admit thoughts along those lines since Sandy Hook and perhaps even Columbine let alone November of '63. I find this really frightening that the thought even occurs to me.

Am I the only one that notices that every time saneness starts to take hold in this country about gun control, that some "NUT" undoes all the hard work in one day and sends the weak-minded back over the edge..........Satan is good at what he does. I can just hear him screaming into somebody mind, somebody weak and hurting, somebody looking for people to blame...."Do it, Do it, Do it!!!".....until they do. If that's not a conspiracy, what is? I also believe he has lots of help.
