Adding to Dan's great video, I would like to add an additional tip for those of you who use one of the electronic powder dispenser /scale combination, such as the RCBS Charge Master and you have found, that all to frequently, the charge dumped into the pan is over the desired weight and this requires that you remove some from the pan and then trickle back up to the proper weight, wasting time and is quite aggravating. Well there is a simple answer to decrease this problem by about 90% for most powders. First, the cause of the problem, is that the feed tube has a spiral groove that runs all the way to the end of the tube, to move the power to the pan. As the powder gets close to the desired weight in the pan, the motion of the tube is decreased in smaller and smaller increments, as it approaches the desired weight.
What happens that causes the over charge is that some of the powder gets stuck in the in the groove and builds up at the end of the tube causing it to dump more powder then is needed, causing the over charge.
The solution to minimizing this is to go to MC Donald’s ( this is not a Joke ) and get one of their large soda straws cut of about a 3/4's of an inch and slid this piece into the end of the tube. The smooth surface of the straw allows the powder to smooth out as it approaches the end of the tube and prevents the build up and over charges and improves consistency.

wychild, Thanks for letting everyone know about the straw trick. I put one in mine the day I got it. It does work.

Another late reply! Good video Dan. Another tip for those who just use the powder measure and not case activated, asside from using the baffle, which should be mandatory, double tap the return at the stop,it helps average out any inconsistencies in your return thus filling the measure more uniformly.

Thanks for that information dangun!! I was wondering about this when loading some .45 ACP for a buddy of mine...kept having to adjust the micrometer to keep the powder throw accuracy at 4.5gr as the powder capacity lowered in the hopper. In case anyone wants to buy one or two instead of making one, search "RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure Baffle" at MidwayUSA or Natchez Shooters Supplies...around $8.00 or less + shipping. ETA:Meh...I'll help out more. Here are the links: Powder Measure Baffle - MidwayUSAPowder Measure Baffle - Natchez Shooters Supply
