I did not want to pirate Pooh's thread on Lee's manual but it gave me an idea. Here is my question, which was your first manual /manuals? You may add manuals that you tend to use most often if you want.
My first was the Hodgdon #19 as I had access to earlier versions of that and others which I don't remember though Speer and Lyman come to mind as I have the '64 and '67 versions. Today I still use Hodgdon and Alliant as they tend to be the more aggressive where as Sierra and others tend towards conservative but I always cross reference or call the manufacturer if the load seem hot or while building a load.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Lyman # 46. Why ? I didn't know any better, and it was probably a couple of bucks cheaper than everything else. The thing that I am most proud of is that it was my first purchase when getting started in handloading. (No internet-perhaps just as well !) I've got a variety now, but the one I keep up with is the Lyman manual. I'm a generalist by nature, and Lyman's got a little of everything. (Big fan of their Cast Bullet Handbook, as well !)

You’re taxing old memory banks here . . . My first manual was given to me by the old guy who got me started in reloading (please note I am now much older than he was then). That was in 1964 and it was the Lyman manual; don’t recall the number, the cover was mostly black and had white plastic finger binding. Shortly after that I bought the current Speer Manual and it was hard bound. Today I have way too many manuals but do a lot of cross-referencing. I would have to say I generally start with Hornady’s Manual but I do reference them all depending on what I’m loading and what I intend the loads for. Back in my cast bullet days ALL my cast loads were from Lyman Manuals.

Well my first manual I do believe was Speer's #11 then Nosler's #3. Wasn't too long after them I got Hornady's 5th ed. Well like you guys I had to have my own library so I got Sierra's 50th anniversary ed. I also got Hodgdon's Data Manual #27. This was their last manual after this is when they started their annual book. I also have Lee's First Edition. I got this early in my reloading also.
