For the 280 Remington what is the preferred bullet weight for dual purpose deer and bear load.personally I was thinking about 150-154 gr for a dual purpose hunting load.

Savage, I have been shooting 140 gr . Sierra bullets for deer from my 7X57mm for over 40 yrs.with excellent results. My muzzle velocity is right at 2,950 about what I'd expect from your .280. I have thought of trying 150 or even 160 gr. bullets but haven't. I did shoot 160s out of my 7mm Remington Magnum though. Given my experience I would not worry about going after anything up to Elk with the 140s so the 150s should be fine. It is all about shot placement anyway,

As Bob stated 150gr. would be fine for deer and black bear here in our state of PA. I use Nosler 140 BT's in my 7mm-08. I would use this also for bear.
