Well guys ya know I had a cat-scan last month 7/13 and which came out for the good and they pulled my drain on 7/16. Well for this month Aug. I had another cat-scan on this past Tue. 8/14 then scheduled to see the general surgery doc next Wed. 8/22. This last scan I had the IV dye and also this time had to drink contrast dye as well. What I had to drink looked like a melted creamsicle. Looked like orange and smelled like orange. Taste not even a hint and I had to drink two and a half cups of the stuff. Yesterday 8/17 I get a call from the doctors that I'm to see next week and the doctor was reviewing Tues. scan and was very pleased with it and as long as I am felling good I do NOT have to see her. So next appointments for this year is blood work in Oct. I see the vascular people for ultra sounds next year June.

Ok Hacker, I hope you didn't use up all the good medical news ! I go in for an echocardiogram Tuesday, and if it looks good, I may be able to shed one of my medications ! (Yay !) Love it when the docs say you're doing so good they don't want to see you. Makes up for the melted creamsicle stuff !

Well Pooh I will pray that the echo cardiogram yields good news and you can drop that med.

hacker....next you'll be getting a colonoscopy. Then you'll have something to drink to really complain about! Pooh.....here's a vote for a successful day at your doctor's office! My latest is something called Dupuytren's Contracture disease. Oh brother, supposedly treated with surgery but not cured. Seems us "vikings" get it....OK, I had blondish hair once. I'm getting hard bumps in my palms below the fingers.....just hard bumps now that sometimes burn a little, that can sometimes turn into strings that pull your fingers forward. I won't be liking THAT! Some research says it might be a "boron" deficiency......one of many things that go wrong with not enough boron.......arthritis comes to mind. So I'm starting a cheap boron self treatment....don't tell a real MD. Do I feel any different, so far after two weeks.....well yes, a matter of fact I do.....aches and pains in my joints are going away.....the knots on my palms? No change yet, but they say it takes months.

Congratulations Hacker. GWS and Pooh, good luck going forward. My eyes have been messed up since the stroke. Doc last week says all I need is a lens change. Thank goodness. Just another day in paradise.

I could add my tails of woe but won’t just now. It seems that the old country song saying “If I knew I was going to live to be this old I would have taken better care of myself” is too true. Hope you are all doing better and good luck to those of you dealing with doctors, etc.

What we all are very interested in is "good experiences".....as in what works to plug the leaks. The doctors do have blinders on and they usually never look to the right or the left. Open minds are rare these days.

Well I might as well add to the tales of woe. I have been diagnosed with a terminal condition....AGE.

Gentlemen here's an update and it is not me. While on FB I saw people wishing Dan a happy birthday and one mentioned about an accident. Well I called Dan to wish him a happy birthday and ask about said accident. He was in a MVA that totaled his truck. He stated that he has broken ribs.I think he stated a neck injury as he is having issues with felling in his one arm. He stated to me that he has cat scans and other test coming up, So keep Dan in your thoughts and prayers as well.

Hacker, thanks for passing that along. This is a pretty sorry crew, at least medically ! Dan, from the sounds, don't try to walk this one off. Take care of yourself and get well ! Let us know when you're feeling well enough to be razzed about it ! Thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear that.....get well Dan! Mortality is so much fun!........and Dan don't let your wife turn on somebody like Red Skelton on TV.......my wife did that when I broke a bunch of ribs 35 years ago and I had to get up out of bed, go to the bathroom, shut the door and stuff toilet paper in my ears.....and I could still hear him....thought I was going to die.....had suspicions my wife was trying to kill me there in the hospital! Laughter and broken ribs don't go together well.
I had two crushed vertebrae too......and I assure you that the broken ribs hurt way worse than broken vertebrae.....so I feel for you, sir. Hope you can take some good narcs to ease it a tad. It'll pass thank goodness.

Well Dangun, if you survived a helicopter crash you shouldn't have a problem with a little bitty truck accident. Take care friend and get all healed up soon but as pooh said "don't try to walk this one off"!

Hey Dangun ~ Hang in there (as you have with so many things in the past). Like the guys say . . . walking it off gets more difficult with each passing year. Recovery for us older gentlemen is not fun and takes longer than when we were pups. ~ Larry

Hi- anybody heard from Dan ? I worry when he's quiet ! That stuff hurts !
Meanwhile, the cardiologist liked what he saw, and I'm down one medication. One of the best parts of that is I'm now allowed grapefruit ! (I know, small things...) Odd thing was, I was peppering the nurse with questions about what I should be looking for as I "withdraw" from the stuff. I've been taking it for seven years, so something's got to give ! In any event, I'm grateful. Hacker, how are you ? You should be coming up on your small game season-are the critters getting nervous yet ?

Pooh,
First off it is good news that the heart doc likes what he saw and has you down to one med. I'll contact Dan to let him know. Well Sept. first started dove and geese for here and small game comes in Oct. 13 and I'm hoping to get out as much as I can with my middle grandson. He wants to go for squirrel.

Well, I feel like I should chime in here . . . I left the socialist state of Kalifornia just over a year ago. I went back for my annual check up (been seeing the same doctor for 27 years, he knows me). He told me ALL my numbers are better than they have been in years. I’ve lost 17 pounds and I feel better over-all. The dog is in better shape than he’s been in years too (thought he was checking out on me a couple years ago, now there’s a lot of pup in him). All in all . . . we really like living in Arizona

Congrats Larry.....the dry desert air is agreeable to you. I'm scared to get my year checkup.......I've been bad....too much drinking, ah....Dr. Pepper. Sugar will be my downfall.
Pooh....one less med is one less problem.....good deal....congrats to you, too.
