Hi- you're all probably sick of my rantings about the 300 Whisper, but I do have a favor-I was told the 9th edition of the Hornady Handbook had substantial data. I'm looking for data for 2400 with bullets in the 230 gr and up class. If anyone has the 9th and has a chance to take a look, I'd appreciate it. I've stumbled into some Sierra data, and I'm looking for my second source. The latest Hornady manual I have is the 7th. I'm looking for subsonic stuff. I'm looking to try 2400 because someone, somewhere opined that it was a touch quieter than H110. I'm trying to get the noise level down as far as I can without getting into Class III complications !
You'll recall that I'm using a Contender on this project, so my goals are not blowing it up, getting the bullet out the muzzle, and being accurate ! I don't have to worry about a gas system !
I looked at the Hornady website, and thought Rosie might have something on the Whisper, but in spite of long study, I believe that's lacking. I may have to double check...
Thanks !
PS- I assume the data would be listed under the Blackout, so as not to offend JD Jones !

Pooh,
Hornady's 9th list 300 Whisper/300 AAC Blackout with the heaviest being their 225gr BTHP Match with 2400 as follows
FPS 900 1000 1100 1200
Chg. 7.0 7.8 8.7 9.5*
*Max.
I checked my Lyman AR Relaoding Book and they list weights heavier than 225gr but none with 2400 in fact this powder is not mentioned at all for this cartridge.

Thanks, Hacker ! That's a broader range than Sierra gave for their 230 gr. offering. I always look for two sources at a minimum, and I'm not in a hurry. Deer season closes tomorrow !

Pooh ~ Here's some more info. Hornady's 10th Edition shows 300 Blackout data as follows: 225 gr. ELD & BTHP using Alliant 2400 7.0gr = 900 fps / 7.8gr = 1000fps / 8.7gr = 1100fps / 9.5gr = 1200fps MAX LOAD
Nosler Manual #8 shows 300 AAC Blackout data as follows: 220 gr RNBT & HPBT using Alliant 2400 7.5gr = 921fps / 8.5gr = 1080fps / 9.5gr = 1214fps MAX LOAD
Speer Manual #15 shows no use of Alliant 2400 above bullet weight 165gr for 300 AAC Blackout.
Sierra Manual V has some updates published on-line for the 300 AAC Blackout but nothing with Alliant 2400.
I'm playing with 300 Blackout on the other end of the weight spectrum. I just got some 110gr round nose. These remind me of the M1 Carbine days.
Let us know how your project goes.
