I have always said I was a Big Bore handgun guy and that's still true. My safe holds more guns .45 and above than anything else. However, as a result of my CCW and Handgun Training I now have a few little guns in the safe. It's amazing how popular the .380 ACP has made a comeback. With the new projectiles available and improved overall performance the 380 has a lot to offer. They are kind of cute and they are fun to shoot. I was just wondering if any of you have wound up with some of these little guys finding their way into your safes?

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Larry, I'm more a .357/9mm guy, but have some big bores as well. I have a CZ-50 in .32 ACP. The only time in my life I felt undergunned was one day out geocaching. I was going through some areas where I wanted my carry to be discrete. At the time, I was in an old gravel excavation site, with a lot of brush and stuff. I looked down and saw reasonably fresh bear tracks-small ones. I had no interest in offending Mama Bear, so I kept cutting off my track to avoid Baby. I kept coming across Baby's tracks... Anyway, somehow I got out of there...
By the way, have you ever loaded .32ACP ? Time for a magnifying glass. Oh yeah, measuring 2 gr. loads...

I started out with a Colt Gold Cup when I was young, and kept it company with a long barrel .45 Ruger BlackHawk convertible. They were both stolen out of my house in 1976.....the Gold Cup was recovered....the convertible was not. Next was another Ruger, a .357mag Security Six. Then another Ruger a stainless .22 auto with a long fluted barrel, for which I bought a red dot.......fun in spades. Think is was called a Hunter? Last, another .45ACP, a Kimber stainless to replace the Colt G.Cup I sold. That's it....no .380's no .32's.......when I want to shoot something light, it's the .22.......and on the other end....no .44mags.....I'm allergic to pain. What do I shoot and reload the most? .45acp and .357 mag........I know boring.....

Pooh ~ My under-gunned story involves a bear as well but the gun was an old Remington 12A Pump rifle that was loaded with .22 birdshot. Needless to say the story ended well for all involved but that’s one story from my childhood that I’ll never forget. It is also the last time I ever shot rats in a dark barn. As for pistol reloading I have dies for my 32 ACP but have never reloaded any. I just don’t shoot the old Colt 1903 very often (her serial number says she was made in 1906). I also have a Dillon Square Deal set up for 380 but haven’t ventured down that path yet either. I do plan to get that set up going because I am doing more with the 380’s. That all started due to my Handgun Safety classes for seniors. I have clients that have trouble with anything larger. I bought a S&W 380 EZ last year and that is ideal for anyone who has trouble racking a semiautomatic . Light recoil and easy takedown; Smith & Wesson hit a niche market there. The most recent accusation is a Sig Sauer P232 that fell into my lap a few weeks ago, I had to make sure it found a good home. My wife carries a Sig Sauer P238 in 380 and that has become one of my favorite little guns. It’s amazingly accurate. It’s like a baby 1911. On the big bore side of things I have started sniffing at the 429 Desert Eagle to accompany my 44 Mag and 50 AE Eagles. Not sure about that one yet, I’ll let you know if I get carried away. As you mentioned, reloading these little guys is somewhat tedious but I have always bought dies etc. for anything that finds a home in my safe. The big bores are a lot easier to reload and I do shoot them a lot more than the little ones. Although I must admit I don’t shoot the real big ones as much as I used to. My wrists and elbows don’t take the recoil like they used to. ~ Keep Your Powder Dry, Larry

I'm not a big hand gun guy,less than a dozen, but I have a Colt Pocket.32 ACP a .25 ACP and a Ruger S.S.Convertible .22 WMR/LR,the balance are 9mm and up. My preferred carry is either my 1911 .45 or my 6" S&W 57,but then I didn't say conceal carry did I.
Try loading the .25 ACP 1-1.2 grs. Magnifying glass and tweezers.

Larry, My good friend and hunting buddy got one of those S&W 380 EZ for Christmas as he does have trouble with manipulating the slide and does at times trouble with double action fire of his S&W 38+P Air Weight. My oldest daughter has looked at some 380s but yet to get one. The smallest round that I have is my 6in. H&R Sportsman that goes along on a small game hunting. Everything else is 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40S&W, and 45ACP. Oh Bob I think I can get the grandson to give up his microscope. That would be a great help with reloading 25ACP

Larry, ............. Everything else is 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40S&W, and 45ACP......... Alzheimer's is here! I totally forgot my 2 .40S&Ws! A Ruger SR40 and a Kahr CW40. And one is my most favorite pistol. the other... my least favorite pistol. Both .40s! Bet you can guess which.
Bob.....a 25? really? what have I missed...... funner than a .22? Reloading one wouldn't be the reason, surely.

Hacker, Thanks but I already have a microscope and a really accurate balance, they don't help. I'd need a surgeon's head piece I don't even try to load them. GW, No it is fun to shoot but too expensive and/or time consuming to load. It is my kill the poor critter along the road who has been hit and left to die gun,or what ever else I need it for. So small it avoids any normal detection in my truck.
