I have heard that the Barnes bullet likes about a 0.050" jump ,does anyone have experience good or bad with that information? Can someone tell me how to research our forum for this information as I think it may have been discussed, possibly by me.

Bob, Here's right from the horse's mouth ere from Barnes. Hope this is of help to you. You should be able to find other info that you might be interested in on their site. www.barnesbullets.com/load-data/

Bob, it seems to me that Handloader has carried some such discussion in the last year. I don't have the back issues as a friend and I share the subscription. (I extract other concessions from him ! Bwahahaha !) I'm guilty of not paying much attention as I'm not facing an imminent lead embargo. (I think...)

Thanks guys, I actually found it all by my self. All I had to do was open my brain! Once again thank you for the effort, that is what I like about this forum!

Well that was fast....so fast, I missed getting in this thread.....not that I was smart enough to help anyway, being Barnes Bullet totally inexperienced.
Glad you nailed it. I've been a little distracted the past two weeks anyway.

Finally got all of the various measuring accessories for the 6.5 now I can start building some loads for it,the last one being the Hornady modified case for their LnL O.A.L. gauge, it came today. Being it's a wildcat I want to make sure of the chamber, the throat, and the O.A.L. so I can start the 130 gr. Barnes 0.050" of the lands and also find out how much neck I can leave on the case. I already have the water volume of the case.

Bob, Sounds like you have it mapped out on which way to go. So enjoy your journey and let us know what discoveries you find on the way.

Well I got side tracked. Going to try shooting some Hornady and Barnes this coming weekend. The bullet jump issue is moot as the magazine length is governing OAL, so we'll see how it shoots. Trying H1000 to start with.

If you were in NW NM instead of N. Cal, I'd go with you.........I still haven't made it to the range since last fall. Don't know what's wrong.....I think I must have fallen into a rabbit hole......................... Do report from range ..... Funny how magazines often thwart plans to get close to the lands for non B.R. rifles. BTW, something weird (besides the rabbit hole) is happening here. Last year we had drought and water rationing.....my garden died before July ended. This year our rivers are full almost to flood and snow pack north of us 60 miles into Colorado is still melting.....I can see 10' high drifts still north of Durango Colo........must be global warming...

Well I finally got to the range Sunday and shot the 6.5 as well as the .257 with 115 gr. Barnes and the K Hornet. Shooting the 6.5 for the first shot, since I had know printed or otherwise information, was reminiscent of my first ever hand load. Well it went Bang and th bullet hit the target. Loads with 140 gr. Hornady bullets all shot within 10 FPS of one another at each powder charge, right around 2,800 FPS with the 130 Barnes heading out at 2,900 FPS. A fun day it was. The K Hornet\shot one large hole,as did the .257.

Well Bob I see that you had a productive day at the range. Hopefully I'll get to the rage soon as the index finger of the right hand has been twitchy here lately.
