The Anschutz rifles never go out of style. They are all classics in my opinion.
OK ... a couple of questions: 1. I know about the sling ... However, what are those aluminum pieces used for? 2. Also ... the big leather thing. Is that like a shooting glove, or mitt?

Ken, The large aluminum part is a butt stock hook. It replaces the butt plate and is used in off hand shooting. The smaller of the 2 is the hand stop and mounts to the rail under the forearm. The mitt is used to pad the hand against the hand stop and to provide a more stable platform in your hand. Also notice the 2 black dots on the aluminum on the stock. Those are set screws that when loose allow the adjustment of the stock. The problem with guns like this is most only like one brand and 1 velocity of ammo. This one really likes the ELEY Match from Machine #2 1051 fps ammo. I can also shoot 1057 to 1061 fps ammo if I loosen the front action bolt by 2 in lbs and wedge a .025" shim between the barrel and the forearm just under the forward scope mount. That is tricky as the torque on the front bolt requires constant re-torquing. The trigger was sent back to Anschutz a few years back to decrease the pull. It is now set at 2oz. They wouldn't go any lower. Because of the low velocity ammo that I use in this rifle it sounds like a low power pellet gun when fired. Hearing protection is worn just to satisfy the rules not because they are needed.

Just saw this Dan,that rifle is almost my age just proving somethings age well! I had an Anschutz sporter in .22 WMR and it was deadly on squirles at 100 yds. and out to 150 yds. it was good. It was also a very nice looking rifle.

Bob, In 1966 or 67 (i was 7 or 8) I entered a BB gun match at the Boys Club of America (remember than club). Well when it was all said an done I won. Then several weeks later my dad let me enter another one put on by I think the Boy Scouts. I won that one too. BB gun matches were a thing in Mcalester, Ok back then. I shot in several others after that, some I won and some I placed 2nd or 3rd. When I turned 10 my mom and dad decided that I could have a .22 rifle knowing that I love to shot matches. Wouldn't you know it I picked out an Anschutz 1411. I saw one in one of the gun stores we went to. It was probably the most expensive .22lr my dad had ever seen, me too for that matter even though I didn't realize the impact to the family bank account. Well after many trips back and forth to different stores my dad bought me the Anschutz. I didn't realize it then but my parents couldn't afford this gun. It cost more than the Mortgage and car payment combined. That explains why my dad came home of an evening at 8:00 instead of 5:00. Overtime and lots of it. I can even imagine how many rounds went thru that barrel but I know I mowed allot of yards to buy ammo. In 1993 I lived close to Catoosa, Okla. so close that a tornado that struck the town, destroyed most of the house that I lived in a few miles away. I was at work when it hit and when I arrived home that evening all my guns were gone. I think they were looted but the police say the tornado took them. I was missing many other things but mostly things of value and thing of little value were still there. None of those guns were ever recovered. So a few years ago when I saw this 1411 for sale I had to get it. The asking price was more than it was worth to most people but not to me. It isn't the same gun but shooting it in or club matches an looking at it at home bring back some awesome memories. It is also a reminder of the sacrifices that my parents made for me just so that a little boy could shoot at paper.
