Hello everyone, I finally had surgery a couple of weeks ago. They removed and replaced 3 disks (C4&5 5&6 6&7 added three hinges or whatever they call them and a bunch of screws. This is the first week of absolutely no pain in my neck since my wreck 14 months ago. Now I have to wait another 4 to 6 months before they will let me shoot anything bigger than a 22 LR. Oh well! Life is good again!!!
Thanks to all those that have been asking about me and I must apologize for not updating everyone sooner.
I hope you all are well and I will try to get caught up on all the posts that have been made in the past year.
Dan

One of my biggest fears is waking up with a stiff neck......I can't (don't want to try to) imagine what you have gone through. Hope everything continues to heal right. Good to hear from you again! Patience is the word now....THAT I know something about having had several "special experiences" of my own. No paralysis right? You are damned lucky sir if you don't!
When I was 24, I was blown off a roof we were sheathing. I crushed 3 vertebra in the center of my back.....they flew me by air ambulance to Albuquerque. (through turbulent air....I still remember every bump.) Besides the back all the ribs on one side were broken.....good thing i was young. On my surgical floor I was the ONLY one with no paralysis....some were neck down. I believe in angels....I believe i was saved for a purpose......I believe the same applies to you! My best advice: Don't waste your reprieve. Praying you don't have any more surprises. Best to you. Greg

Dan, I'm very happy to hear about your great strides towards shooting and handloading (recovery) look forward to seeing more positive posts! I'm also forced to agree with Greg and Gary take it easy, one day at a time. Having never had a serious injury(knock on wood) myself but as a fireman I have seen enough to allow me to at least imagine what you've been through though. Look forward to more posting.

Dan ~ So glad to hear your good news. We live in amazing times, with all modern medicine can do now days. It seems that our Good Lord put you in the right place and time to allow the doctors with the right tools and talent to work on you. Take your time in healing and say your prayers ~ All the best, SanpShot (Larry)

Hi Dan ! Took 'em a while, and maybe you were figuring you'd need to make the parts yourself ! I'm glad you're getting some relief (chronic pain bites!) Do it by the numbers and don't goof it up !

Thanks everyone I believe the prayers helped! I still don't have and may not ever get all the feeling back in my right arm and hand but it's only the since of touch. The work just fine otherwise. I will have to teach my finger to sneak up on that 3 oz trigger even more so now. In the mean time I have been doing alot of reloading. My powder and prime stash is almost gone but my stash of loaded ammo has grown beyond what I ever imagined. (Big Brother did you read that??) It is still going to be awhile before I get the posts read and I'm up to speed on what everyone has been up to but I'll get there!!!

Dan, One good thing.....winter is coming so by the time summer comes you may be able to enjoy it.....of course in Florida maybe there is not much of a difference....here there sure is. We've already had our first snow, and low temps were 8 degrees last week. Yet today it was nice.....left my coat home...but tonight it's getting cold again....just a little jealous of you Foridans. Next Monday I get to have another lil special experience of my own.....can't wait.....Angiogram. I hate getting old.....

Guys, a friend with a decade or so on me told me once that if he woke up and something didn't hurt, he worried that he might be might be dead !
Thinking of Dan's situation, do you ever find the handloading more fun that shooting the stuff ?

Pooh, I'd be really surprised to hear an affirmative from Dan on that question. For me, not even close.....in fact why do you think I have all these devices I built.....to speed it up. What's the famous line? "Necessity is the mother of all inventions?" For me the word is not "necessity", it's "drudgery". In fact that's why I bought a Thumblers and some stainless steel pins. Thought maybe brass bling might make it more positive.....and it did for a while. And here you guys probably thought I loved reloading! For me it's shooting, and inventing ways to make reloading faster, so there's more shooting, less reloading.
But guess what? Right now I'm wondering whether I'm going to soon miss reloading too........imagine that. Really glad Dan is on the mend....he's too young to be missing the hobbies. Me? Shoulda thought of that when I was younger.....too much Dr. Pepper I'm sure! Time to pay the piper..........again....

Sorry I dropped out again guys. BTW I am fully mended and feel awesome. My Job keeps me muchon a short leash. This will probably surprise some of you but I really don't like reloading!!!
Ok now that the BS is out of the way... Shooting is my passion. That desire to put every bullet into the same hole everytime is what drives me. That being said, I know that will never happen with factory or substandard reloads. So the challenge is a vicious circle. I admit that I don't always load for accuracy, sometimes it's just to make noise. LOL!!!

Bob, I am but not working on the actual aircraft. I am the Chief Inspector of Extant Aerospace FAA Repair Station located in Melbourne, FL. We repair Avionics and electronic system components. It is probably the most fun job I've had in my career. The only downfall is that I don't have near as much time to reload, shoot or play on the airboat!

Dan when a job/work is a drag to do it's not liked but pays the bills. Now when it becomes fun and enjoyed to do then one doesn't mind being there.
