My hunting started Sat. 12 of Sept. This was about a month earlier that in past years as it would be mid Oct. This was squirrel and the rest rabbit and pheasant came in at the normal mid Oct. Yes the new squirrel gun the Chiappa Double Badger went with me. The grandsons have used this as well. The first Sat. in Oct was the start of archery then on Oct. 31 the start of fall turkey and ended on Nov. 14. Now for the fall turkey I took the 22 WMR. I also take along with the afore memtioned firearms my H&R 22lr revolver. Firearm deer started Nov 28 and just ended Dec 12. The small game was up to Nov. 27. Now how did I and my grandsons make out. So far for squirrel I have exceeded last years totals. I have taken seven with it the mid grandson has taken two with it. The oldest has taken one with his dad's 22 WMR I've taken one with mine and one with the 22lr revolver. No luck with turkey for me. The oldest shot but missed and the mid grandson hit one but we searched to no avail. The riflr deer no luck. Now tomorrow Dec 14 to Dec 24 the small game starts backup. Of course no hunting on Christmas day but the next day back at it and also the archery comes back in along with the start of the flintlock season that goes to Jan.18 the small game goes to Feb 27. So on Tue. if weather is nice enough I'm headed for bushy tails. I'll let ya know on the tallies of the second half of the small game season.

Hacker,What with your seasons there in Pennsylvania I'd need a director to tell me what and when to hunt!

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

You're right, Bob ! I wonder if someone has an app that can be looked at on leaving the house in the morning ! They've made fishing really complicated here in New Hamster.

Interesting that there are a lot of split seasons. Am I correct your muzzleloaders have to be smoothbore ?

Pooh answer is no they use rifled bores . The flintlock season is open to that type of firearm only. It was several years back that they allowed conicles as it was round ball for years. Oh no optics or peep style sights. Now adjustable fiber type sights are permitted.

Well I thought I had an update and see that I don't. Well I and the son-in-law got out on Jan. 18 for the last day of the archery and flintlock season with our crossbows. The only deer I saw was a carcus of one. I did have a squirrel about 10 feet in front of me but I was not going to use an arrow on it. Yes small game was still inand if I had the squirrel gun I would have had the chance at three of them. I was out several times since that in between the snow falls we had for squirrel along with the grandsons. Saw a few but none would stit still long enough to get a shot or see none at all. I and the oldest grandson spent the last day of small game Feb. 27 together and did not see nor hear a squirrel but being with my grandson was my day. This hunting year has been the most enjoyable since I was young and beginning my hunting because of my grandsons. Now we get ready for May 1st which starts spring turkey. I'm hoping they both connect with one as that would really make this hunting year great.
